Overview

Some heat cannot be dressed for: the packed train, the warm restaurant, the moment you feel too warm in a meeting. Tradewind™ is the old answer, properly made: a leaf of blush silk printed with drifting cherry blossom and small butterflies, mounted on hollow-carved bamboo ribs that weigh almost nothing and snap open with a flick of the wrist. It gives thirty-eight centimetres of moving air when you need it and is a slim wand with a silk tassel when you do not. It cools as a breeze from a window does: silently, gently and with no batteries.

Care

Keep it dry, because silk and bamboo are better in air than in water. Open and close it by the guard sticks and not by the leaf. If dust settles, a soft, dry brush across the silk removes it.
