Amity Pillow Orientation: 6 Fit Checks and a Real Flip Video

Calm Eden Sleep Journal · Updated September 2026

Short answer

Place the Amity pillow with a curved edge beneath your neck and your head on the center area. Rotate it end for end to compare the other curved edge, then keep the orientation that feels comfortable in your usual sleep position. The video shows the flip; your own mattress and body determine the fit.

Which way should the Amity Comfort Cervical Pillow face? The short real-footage clip below shows a creator turning the pillow to reveal another curved edge. That visual makes the shape easier to understand, but it cannot choose an orientation for you. Use the six checks after the video to compare both edges on your actual bed.

Real creator footage, approximately nine seconds. She turns the pillow and points to the other curved edge. The article image is a frame from the same footage. Her description of the feel is personal; test the shape on your own mattress.

Six checks for finding your Amity orientation

  1. Find the center first. Lay the pillow flat and locate the shaped center where your head rests. The long curved edge closest to your shoulders is the edge to compare; the pillow is not meant to be folded or propped on its side. The general cervical-pillow setup guide shows the starting position for back and side sleepers.
  2. Start on your own mattress. A showroom photo cannot tell you how far your shoulder sinks into your bed. Lie in your normal position for a minute before judging the contour. Keep the pillow under your head and neck while your shoulders remain on the mattress.
  3. Notice your head angle. On your back, check whether your chin feels pushed sharply toward your chest or tipped too far up. On your side, notice whether your head feels tilted toward the ceiling or dropped toward the mattress. If either happens, compare the opposite curved edge before deciding the pillow is a fit.
  4. Rotate end for end. Turn the pillow so its other long curved edge faces your shoulders, as the video demonstrates. Settle back into the same position on the same mattress. Compare comfort and head position rather than assuming one edge is universally right.
  5. Check the side recess only if you use it. Amity has a side recess visible in the separate side-sleeper video walkthrough. You can try resting an arm near it, but there is no required arm placement. If the cutout makes your shoulder feel crowded, let your arm rest elsewhere.
  6. Try a normal turn. Roll between your usual positions. The edge that feels fine on your back may feel different when side sleeping. If you regularly change positions, compare both orientations through a few natural turns rather than holding a pose for the camera.

Before choosing from a video

Check the live Amity listing for materials, care directions, current availability, price, and offers. A short clip cannot reproduce how the foam and contour feel on your bed. If a sculpted shape is unfamiliar, compare the trade-offs between contour and regular pillows before buying. The best choice is one you can assess against your own position and mattress, not the creator's.

Frequently asked questions

Does one Amity edge always face the shoulders?

Start with a curved edge beneath your neck, then rotate the pillow end for end to compare the other edge. Choose by how each feels in your usual sleep position on your own mattress.

Do I need to use the side recess?

No. It is an optional place to try your arm, not a required position. Keep your shoulders relaxed and place your arm where it feels natural.

Can the video tell me the right pillow height?

No. It shows the shape and the flip. Your mattress and body affect the fit. Use the height guide for a practical check.
