Amity Pillow Positions: 5 Fit Checks from a Real Video

Calm Eden Sleep Journal · Updated September 2026
The real video shows one creator trying the Amity pillow on her back, moving her arms near its side wings, and turning to another position. Use it to see the pillow shape; judge fit by how your head, shoulders and arms rest on your own mattress in the positions you actually use.
A pillow can look different once someone actually lies on it. In this real-footage demonstration, a creator tries the Amity Comfort Cervical Pillow on her back, moves her arms beside its wings, and turns to another position. The clip shows the shape clearly. It does not prove that any position will suit every sleeper.

Watch the real position demo
This is an approximately 28-second excerpt from the creator's real demonstration. The article image is a frame from the same footage. Her comments describe her own preference; the five checks below are questions to test on your own bed.
Five fit checks to make while you watch
- Where does the head settle on your back? In the first position, notice the pillow's shaped center and the raised areas beside it. On your own bed, let your head rest naturally and check whether your chin feels pushed down or tipped up. You should not need to hold your head in place to make the contour work. Our back-sleeper pillow guide explains the broader height and shape trade-offs.
- Do the shoulders stay on the mattress? The pillow is under the head and neck in the video; it is not a cushion for the whole upper body. When you try a contour pillow, keep your shoulders on the bed and notice how your mattress changes the space beneath your neck. A soft mattress may let the shoulder sink more than a firm one.
- Where do your arms want to rest? The video shows the creator trying her hands near the pillow's side areas. You may prefer your arms beside your body, in front of you, or near a cutout. The separate arm-recess walkthrough shows a closer view. Treat the recess as an option, not a position you must force.
- What changes when you turn? A position can feel fine for a moment on your back and less natural on your side. Roll over the way you normally do. Check that your head does not drop toward the mattress or tilt sharply upward, and that your lower shoulder is not crowded. See the combination-sleeper comparison for more on that trade-off.
- Would another edge feel better? If the first orientation feels too high or too low, rotate the pillow end for end and compare. Our real flip video and six-check guide shows exactly what to inspect. Compare one change at a time on the same mattress rather than stacking extra pillows under the contour.
Back, side or both: which parts of the demo matter?
Mostly back sleeping: Start with the center and chin-angle checks. The creator's arm position is a secondary detail if your arms usually rest at your sides. Mostly side sleeping: Pay more attention to the shoulder gap and where the lower arm lands. Changing positions: The turning motion is the useful part of the clip. If you cannot move naturally between your usual positions, the contour may not be your preferred shape.
A short demonstration cannot measure your shoulder width or mattress sink. Amity is one shaped option among several; the contour versus regular pillow guide helps you decide whether a defined shape is useful at all.
Before deciding from a video
Read the current Amity product listing for materials, care directions, availability, price and returns information. The person in the video describes her experience, not an outcome you can expect. Try the fit checks for yourself if possible. If you have persistent pain, numbness, or a diagnosed condition, seek a clinician's advice about that concern rather than using a short video as treatment guidance.
Frequently asked questions
Does the video show every Amity sleeping position?
No. It shows one creator trying a few back and side positions. Use it to see the shape, then compare the positions you actually use on your own bed.
Do I have to place my arms in the side recesses?
No. Rest your arms where your shoulders feel relaxed. The side areas are optional.
What if the pillow feels too high in one position?
Compare the opposite curved edge on the same mattress. If neither feels natural, a different pillow shape or profile may suit you better.
