Palo santo finally stays lit
I own three incense holders and not one of them works for palo santo - the stick just dies within a minute. This keeps going eight or nine minutes off a single light, which is the first time I have managed that at home. You do have to lay the stick right down on the floor of it rather than leaning it against the back wall, which took me two goes to work out.

Understated on a windowsill, in the best way
It's about as wide as my hand and quite low, so it disappears on a windowsill rather than being a centrepiece. The white glaze is a warm off-white, not a bright white, which I prefer. The inside is bare clay and does go sooty after a few burns; I stopped worrying about it by week two.

The chimney is the whole point
I assumed the chimney was decorative. It is not - the draught keeps the ember alive and the smoke leaves in one thin line instead of drifting everywhere, which matters in a flat with no extractor. I use it for sage too, broken up small so the pieces lie flat. Give it half an hour before you pick it up, the base holds heat.
