Long hours at a desk or poor posture can create pressure in the neck and cervical spine, leading to stiffness, headaches, and shoulder tension. The CalmEden Release™ Neck Stretcher uses an ergonomic cervical traction curve to gently decompress the neck and restore natural alignment. The result is reduced tension, improved mobility, and relaxing neck relief in just a few minutes a day.

Overview

Ten minutes on the Release can undo a whole day of desk-hunched neck. It is a cervical traction arch: lie back and it cradles your neck into its natural C-curve, gently opening space between compressed vertebrae to take pressure off the nerves and let tight muscles let go.

It bends flat to slide under your neck, then springs back to its supportive curve, thanks to a spring-steel core wrapped in firm foam and soft-touch silicone. Use it on the floor, bed or a mat for 10 to 15 minutes a day.

28 x 18 cm, 400 g. Made for neck pain from desk work, tech neck, tension headaches, cervical disc compression and post-injury rehab.

Care

Wipe outer silicone surface with damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or submerge in water—internal spring steel frame will rust. Air dry completely. Clean every 1-2 weeks. Store flat in cool, dry place. Avoid excessive bending or twisting—while device is flexible for positioning, repeated extreme bending can fatigue the spring steel core. If device loses its ability to return to curved shape, the internal frame may be damaged.

Materials

Flexible Core: Spring steel frame (medical-grade stainless steel) encased in high-density foam. Spring steel provides firm, consistent support while allowing device to flex during positioning. When bent to slide under neck, steel frame stores elastic energy; when released, it returns to ergonomic curved shape, creating gentle upward lift on skull base and downward support at C7. This dual-point support creates cervical traction (decompression of vertebrae). Foam encasement cushions the steel frame, preventing pressure points.

Cervical Traction Mechanism: The device's curved shape creates two support points: (1) base of skull (occiput) and (2) base of neck (C7 vertebra). When lying flat with device under neck, gravity pulls head backward while device lifts upward—this creates gentle traction that increases space between cervical vertebrae (C1-C7). Increased space decompresses nerve roots (reducing radiating pain), relieves pressure on intervertebral discs, and stretches tight neck muscles. Traction force is gentle (approximately 2-4kg)—enough to create therapeutic effect without causing injury.

Restoration of Cervical Curve: Modern lifestyles (desk work, phone use) cause forward head posture, which flattens or reverses the natural cervical lordosis (C-curve). Loss of cervical curve increases stress on vertebrae, discs, and muscles, causing chronic neck pain. The CalmEden Release™'s curved shape mirrors the natural lordosis—when used regularly (10-15 minutes daily), it gently encourages neck to return to proper alignment. Over weeks/months, this can help restore natural curve and reduce chronic pain.

Outer Layer: Soft-touch silicone (charcoal grey) provides comfortable, non-slip surface against skin and hair. Silicone is hypoallergenic, easy to clean, and doesn't absorb sweat or oils. White accent trim along edges adds visual definition and premium aesthetic.

Flat, Flexible Design: Unlike rigid foam neck stretchers (which are bulky and difficult to position), the CalmEden Release™'s flexible core allows you to bend the device, slide it under your neck while lying down, then release—it springs back to curved shape, positioning itself correctly. This eliminates the awkward process of lifting your head to place a rigid device. Flat profile (2cm thick) also makes it portable and easy to store.

Stop Neck Pain and Cervical Compression—Flat Flexible Stretcher

Ergonomic cervical traction device with flexible core bends to slide under neck, then provides gentle decompression and stretching—relieves nerve pressure, tension headaches, and forward head posture in 10-15 minutes daily

Gentle traction, real decompression

Ten Minutes Against Ten Hours of Desk.

Lying on the Release™ creates gentle cervical traction — space opens between compressed vertebrae, nerve roots decompress, and tight muscles let go. Ten to fifteen minutes a day counteracts the forward-head hours at a screen.

Spring steel inside

Bends to Fit. Springs to Support.

The flexible spring-steel core bends flat for easy positioning under the neck, then returns to its curve to lift the skull base gently. Soft-touch silicone outside, 400 grams total — it lives beside the couch or in a bag.

Frequently asked questions

I have chronic neck pain from desk work. How does this actually help?
Desk work drives forward head posture, which flattens the cervical curve and compresses vertebrae, discs, and nerves. Lying on the Release™ for 10–15 minutes applies gentle traction: it opens space between vertebrae, decompresses nerve roots, and stretches tight muscles. Use it daily alongside posture fixes. If pain is severe or comes with numbness or tingling, see a doctor first.
How do I position it under my neck?
Lie on your back, bend the device flat with both hands, slide it under your neck with the curve at the base of your skull, and let go — it springs back and lifts gently, chin tilting slightly up. Too intense? Slide it toward the shoulders. Too mild? Slide it toward the skull.
Can I use it in bed before sleeping?
Yes — floor, bed, mat, or couch all work. But never sleep on it overnight: traction is therapeutic in 10–15 minute sessions and can strain muscles or irritate nerves over hours. Many people use it as a pre-sleep ritual, then switch to their regular pillow.
I have a herniated disc in my neck. Is it safe?
Traction helps some herniations and worsens others — you must check with your doctor or physical therapist first if you have a diagnosed herniated disc, spinal instability, osteoporosis, or a recent neck injury. If cleared, start with 5-minute gentle sessions and stop immediately on any increased pain, numbness, tingling, or dizziness.
How long until I see results?
Some feel looser after the first session; chronic neck pain typically needs 2–4 weeks of daily use — muscles, ligaments, and discs adapt gradually. Combine with an ergonomic desk setup and screen breaks. No improvement after 4 weeks? See a physical therapist.
