Bask™ is that figure, cast in solid brass and sitting cross-legged with its knees flat to the table. Between its feet, a small lotus pad is bored through with a socket sized for a standard incense stick. Push one in, light it, and the smoke rises straight up past a very calm frog.

It's small — around 4.5 cm tall, about the height of the little cup next to it — and heavy for its size, because it's solid metal rather than plated hollow-ware. That weight is why it doesn't shuffle when you knock the tray, and why a burning stick stays upright in it.

Sand-cast, so no two are quite identical: the patina settles into every recess and the raised edges rub bright where your fingers land. Put it on a tea tray, a windowsill or the corner of a desk and let it get on with its one job.

Care

Let the stick burn out fully and cool, then tap the ash out of the socket. A cocktail stick clears anything stubborn.

Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Brass is meant to darken — if you prefer it bright, buff occasionally with a brass cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which strip the antique patina out of the cast detail.

Burning incense leaves a warm base and light ash. Sit it on a coaster, tray or stone rather than directly on bare polished wood.
