How do I turn it on and dim it?
Touch anywhere on the top of the dome. Tap again to move through the brightness steps, from bright enough to read by down to a faint night glow, then off. There is no other control to learn.
What is the switch on the bottom for?
It is a master cut-off. Flick it off and the touch surface goes dead, so the lamp cannot be woken by a jostling bag and arrive with a flat battery. Flick it back on and the tap control works again.
Can I use it outside?
Yes — it's built for evenings on a terrace, balcony or patio table. It isn't rated for rain or submersion, so treat it like your phone: fine in the evening air, brought in before a downpour.
How long does one charge last?
Several evenings of normal bedside use, and considerably longer on the lower brightness steps. It refills from any USB port or plug, and the cable is in the box.
Is the light warm or cool white?
Warm. The opal dome softens a warm-white LED into an amber-leaning pool with no blue edge, which is why it works as a wind-down light rather than a task lamp.
Is it safe in a child's room?
Yes. It runs on a low-voltage internal cell with no mains cord to trip over, the LED stays cool to the touch, and there is no bulb or glass to break. Charge it with the lamp switched off and out of reach.

Great quality, nice and heavy. It looks and feels more expensive than it is. Touch button is elegant, not typical looking switch. The light is not bright enough for reading unless right over a book, but wonderful accent light, and would be great in a blackout with no lights.

The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because it is a quality, sturdily made lamp. However, the bulb is so dim that as a lighting source, it is basically useless. Sure, it looks nice, but you'd do just as well to buy a much less expensive night light and it will serve the same function. I wouldn't care, except I cannot find a bulb to replace this because the base is thin and the contact point at the end is longer than a regular bulb. I thought a "daylight" candelabra bulb would work, as the base is the same length, but while they do fit in the lamp, they don't make contact, so they don't actually work. I emailed the manufacturer and will update my review based on what they say, but at the moment I'm quite unhappy to have wasted $60 on a lamp that is merely decorative. Also, if you get the style with the glass shade, make sure you don't break it, because from what I've been able to find, it is ALSO a unique size.

This is not a large table lamp but is perfect for a nightstand. The shade and metal base look anttractive and are as pictured. There was a small crack in the shade but it’s tiny so I plan to just ignore it.
