You can trace the wing veins with a fingernail
The casting is lovely — you can actually trace the veins in the wings with a fingernail, and it stands up on its own six legs with the body lifted clear of the shelf. Mine lives on the kitchen windowsill and throws a great shadow around ten in the morning.

The dark green in the recesses makes it
Mine came with a proper green-bronze sitting down in the wing veins and between the abdomen bands, and bright honey brass on all the raised bits, so it reads as something found rather than something bought. Two months on my desk and the spot where I keep picking it up has gone noticeably warmer in colour. No rocking on any of the six legs on an oak desk.

Bought three as small gifts
Slipped one into a card for my mother, one for a friend who keeps bees and one for myself. All three arrived nearly identical, with slight differences in how dark the patina sat, which I think is the point. As a thing to find on a shelf it is excellent.
