You get a brass bee figurine cast in one solid piece, 4.4 cm long, with its wings raised as if it just landed. The veins are cut straight into the metal, and six legs hold the small body steady on any surface.

There is no base and no lacquer — just the bee itself, small enough to sit beside a book or on a windowsill without claiming the space.

  • Honeybee cast in one solid piece, 4.4 cm long
  • Wings up, veins cut into the metal
  • Stands on its own six legs
  • No base, no lacquer

Set this brass bee figurine where you will notice it, and let a small piece of the garden stay indoors.

Product Info

Unlacquered brass, cast solid

Material

4.4 cm length, spanning two fingertips

Size

Overview

Small windowsill objects tend to be soft forms: pebbles, shells or seed heads. This one is different when lifted. Its metal surface feels cooler than the surrounding room rather than like those familiar objects.

Six integral legs support a solid brass casting measuring 4.4 cm in length.

Care

Clean using dry fabric. With no lacquer, the surface darkens wherever it is handled. Apply a small amount of brass polish if you prefer to restore its shine.

Materials

Unlacquered solid brass is cast with its details integral rather than attached afterwards. Four thin, blade-like wings carry branching vein patterns. A rounded thorax meets a banded abdomen, with delicate antennae and six slender, jointed legs completing the form.

  • Surface: Antique treatment with green-bronze in recessed areas and honey-brass tones rubbed onto raised details
  • Underneath: Exposed raw metal casting between its legs
  • Measurements: Length 4.4 cm, width 3 cm, weight ~12 g

Catches the light

A windowsill-sized object

It fits across a windowsill, along a shelf edge or in the corner of a desk. Raised wings and a body lifted off the surface cast an elongated bee-shaped shadow when sunlight falls at a low angle.

Pocket-sized

Coin-like size in the hand

Expect more weight and coldness than its size suggests: it feels like metal, not resin. People notice it, then reach to lift it.

True to scale

Dimensions suited to a sill

Its width spans approximately two fingertips. Refer to the final photograph for the drawn dimensions.

You can trace the wing veins with a fingernail

The casting is lovely — you can actually trace the veins in the wings with a fingernail, and it stands up on its own six legs with the body lifted clear of the shelf. Mine lives on the kitchen windowsill and throws a great shadow around ten in the morning.

The dark green in the recesses makes it

Mine came with a proper green-bronze sitting down in the wing veins and between the abdomen bands, and bright honey brass on all the raised bits, so it reads as something found rather than something bought. Two months on my desk and the spot where I keep picking it up has gone noticeably warmer in colour. No rocking on any of the six legs on an oak desk.

Bought three as small gifts

Slipped one into a card for my mother, one for a friend who keeps bees and one for myself. All three arrived nearly identical, with slight differences in how dark the patina sat, which I think is the point. As a thing to find on a shelf it is excellent.

Frequently asked questions

How large is it?
Measuring 4.4 cm along its length and 3 cm in width, it spans roughly two adjacent fingertips. A photograph holds it between two fingertips to give a clear indication of its small scale.
Is the brass solid rather than plating?
It is brass throughout the casting, not steel with plating or resin beneath a brass-coloured layer. The exposed underside shows raw cast metal. Because the surface has no lacquer coating, its appearance continues to develop as you handle it.
Will it stand by itself?
Yes. Six cast legs support it independently, lifting its body a few millimetres above the surface without a pin, pedestal or separate base. Set it on the edge of a tea tray, a desk, a bookshelf or a windowsill; each provides a suitable resting place.
Does its surface gradually alter with use?
Yes — natural change is part of the finish. Without lacquer, bright raised areas become warmer and darker where touched, but the wing veins retain their green-bronze colouring below. Most people leave this to develop. If you prefer shine, polish the raised bands with brass polish to bring their brighter tone back.
