Overview

A second half-sphere hangs directly under the lamp inside the dome, so the light that reaches the table has been reflected twice, off the bud and off the white inner shade, and falls as a soft circle and not a spotlight. The cord hangs 1.5 m and shortens to suit your ceiling.

Care

Switch off at the wall and let the bulb cool before cleaning. Wipe the lacquered shade with a soft, dry cloth; the gloss marks easily, so do not use abrasive pads or solvent sprays. The fitting should be installed by a qualified electrician.

What size is the shade?

23 cm wide and 16 cm tall (9.1 × 6.3 in), with a 10 cm ceiling canopy. It is a small pendant: one suits a table for two to four, and two or three suit an island.

How low does it hang?

The cord is 1.5 m long and can be shortened at the canopy, so you can hang it low over a table or raise it clear of a walkway.

Is a bulb supplied?

Yes, an E27 bulb is supplied with the light. For the golden tone in our photographs, change it for a 2700K warm-white E27. The fitting takes any standard E27.

What is the second dome inside for?

That is the bud, and the design depends on it. It sits directly under the bulb, hiding the filament from a seated eyeline, and the light reflects off it and off the white inner dome before it reaches the table, giving a soft pool with no glare.

Can I fit it myself?

It is a hardwired ceiling fitting, so a qualified electrician should install it. It mounts at a standard ceiling rose position and the canopy covers the fixing.

Which colour should I go for?

White and Putty recede: Putty is a warm greige beside oak and limewash, and White almost vanishes into a pale ceiling. Onyx and Pine do the reverse and make a strong mark above a table. Terracotta, Ochre and Blush warm a neutral room. Sky is the only cool note in the range.
