Overview

Most small pendants get one thing wrong: the shade is too shallow, so the bulb hangs below the rim and you look straight at it every time you sit down. You put a weaker bulb in, and then the table is dim.

Tumbler is a squat drum, 15 cm across but a full 10 cm deep, so a standard E27 bulb sits entirely inside it. And the glass is opal rather than clear, so the light passes through the shade wall and lands as a soft-edged pool instead of a bright ring with a hot spot in the middle.

Care

Switch it off and let the bulb cool before you touch the glass. Dust the outside with a dry microfibre cloth; for finger marks use a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Keep it away from running water and spray cleaner — liquid in the lamp holder is the one thing that will finish it. Wipe the painted cap rather than scrubbing it, and skip abrasive cream.

How big is it really?
The shade is small — roughly the width of a spread hand. Over a small round table or a bedside one is plenty. Over a kitchen island or a long dining table, plan on two or three spaced evenly apart.
How low should I hang it?
Roughly three-quarters of the way down to the tabletop is the sweet spot. Because the bulb sits fully inside the shade you can go that low without anyone seeing the filament. Over a worktop where people stand, hang it a little higher so nobody knocks their head.
Is a bulb included?
Yes — a warm LED bulb comes included and pre-fitted, so it's ready to hang and switch on straight out of the box. If it ever needs replacing, use any standard E27 bulb rated for the fitting.
Can I shorten the cord?
Yes — the braided cord is adjustable at the ceiling rose, anywhere from a short drop up to the full 1.9 m. You gather the excess inside the rose rather than cutting it, so you can let it back down if you move house or change the table.
Do I need an electrician?
If you're replacing an existing pendant on a live ceiling point, it's a like-for-like swap and most people manage it themselves with the power off at the consumer unit. If you're creating a new ceiling point, get a qualified electrician. It's light enough that it doesn't need a reinforced fixing.
Which colourway for my room?
The colour doesn't change how the pendant works — only how it looks in your space. Lighter colourways feel softer and blend into bright interiors, while darker or two-tone finishes create more contrast and become more of a design feature.
