I kept running into trouble with this alarm clock, but I may have received a defective one. It came with the second hand off as pictured. My dad was able to fix it, and it seemed to be working fine. Then somehow the minute and hour hand got off track. I opened it up to fix it again. Now the clock works but the alarm feature does not. As for the light, it works just fine. It is small and not bright, but that's better for an alarm clock in my opinion. I tried contacting the seller but couldn't get a replacement, although it was eligible for a refund.

I needed a non-ticking, unobtrusive clock since the one I bought in l993 just gave out. I love that this clock runs on one battery, sits nicely on any surface, keeps great time, and also has an alarm if needed. My granddaughter loves my clock as well and would like to see it in gold.
