You get a brass elephant figurine caught mid-stride, trunk raised, cast in the round from solid brass. At 54 mm long it fits easily in your hand, yet the wrinkled hide, ear folds and creases are all there — darkened in the depths and rubbed back to bright brass on the high points.

There is no base and no lacquer; the piece stands on its own four legs, honest about what it is.

  • Solid cast brass, 54 mm long
  • Trunk raised mid-stride, cast in the round
  • Wrinkled hide and ear folds detailed in the metal
  • No base, no lacquer — stands on its own legs

Bring this brass elephant figurine home and give a quiet corner a touch of movement.

Product Info

Solid cast brass, unlacquered

Material

Palm-sized — 54 mm long

Size

Overview

Most cheap brass animals are cast thin, hollow and flat-backed — good from one angle, obviously a souvenir from every other.

This one is 35 g of solid metal in 54 mm, modelled in the round with the trunk curled up and the ears held out.

Care

A dry cloth is all it needs, with a soft brush for dust in the wrinkle lines. Unlacquered, so it darkens where your fingers rest — or a little brass polish on the raised surfaces brings the shine back.

Materials

Solid cast brass, left unlacquered — a single casting in the round with no joins or hollow shell, and the detail cast in rather than applied: wrinkled hide, ear folds, cross-hatched leg creases, small tusks and a curled raised trunk.

  • Finish: Antiqued — creases darkened, raised areas rubbed back to warm brass
  • Stands: All four feet level and flat, no base needed
  • Size: 54 mm nose-to-tail, 32 mm tall, ~35 g

No bad angle

Detailed on every side

Cast in the round, not flat-backed — the far flank has the same wrinkled hide, ear fold and eye as the side facing you. No bad angle, so it works on an island, an open shelf or a desk you walk around.

It ages

Bare brass, so it keeps moving

No lacquer. The darkened wrinkle lines stay dark while the shoulders, spine and trunk warm and deepen where your fingers keep finding them.

Heavier in the hand than I expected

I have bought a few of these little brass animals over the years and most turn out hollow and light as a bottle cap. This one is solid all the way through and you feel it the second you pick it up. The wrinkles on the legs are properly cut in too. Lives on the corner of my desk next to the lamp.

The gold against the dark creases

It is about as long as my thumb and it sits on the windowsill by the kettle. Morning sun across it and the gold on the back against the dark down in the creases looks genuinely good.

Stands dead level, no wobble

Small thing but it matters: the feet are flat and all four touch, so it does not rock on my glass side table the way a cast piece often does. It has already gone slightly darker on the back where I keep picking it up, which I like more than I thought I would.

Frequently asked questions

What size is it?
54 mm nose-to-tail and 32 mm tall — about the length of a thumb, roughly a matchbox footprint. One of the photos shows it held between finger and thumb.
Is it solid brass or hollow?
Solid cast brass right through — not hollow, not plated steel, not resin with a metallic coating. It weighs about 35 g, which is what gives a 54 mm object its density in the hand. No lacquer either, so the colour moves with handling.
Does it need a base?
No. All four feet are cast level and finished flat underneath, so it stands unaided and does not rock, even on glass or stone. Nothing is glued on that could work loose.
Will the finish change over time?
Yes, by design. The bright rubbed-back areas — crown, shoulders, spine, trunk — warm and slowly darken where fingers keep finding them, while the wrinkle lines stay dark. Brass polish on the high points brings the shine back if you would rather keep it bright.
